Simply open the RukusImPulse app, select your class type, connect to the CycleArena, and start your ride - it’s that simple. What is the Rukus ImPulse app?

Rukus ImPulse allows you to seamlessly use your Apple Watch alongside our in-studio experience. Simply open the RukusImPulse app, connect to the CycleArena, and start your ride - it’s that simple. Once you’ve started your ride we will simultaneously record your workout and add it to your Health activities. Close your rings, and earn RukusScore points at the same time. It’s your ride, leave your phone in the locker with our stand-alone functionality.

How do I activate my Apple Watch?

First, you'll want to download the Rukus ImPulse app from the App Store. After downloading the app, simply visit or call your studio and ask our Guest Service team to activate your Apple Watch. 

Do I need to purchase additional hardware?

Absolutely not. Our Rukus ImPulse app seamlessly connects your device to the CycleArena. Forget about charging your supplementary device, leaving it at home, or misplacing it. We only need you, and your device - it's that simple. 

Initial setup, required settings.

Once you first launch the app, Apple Watch will ask you the following prompt. Please follow the steps below for an ideal experience. 

Allow Write Access: "RukusImPulse" would like permission to write the following data to Health. 

> Recommended Setting: Toggle ON "All Requested Data Below"

RukusImPulse requires this setting so that we can record your ride history directly into Health. 

Allow Read Access: "RukusImPulse" would like permission to write the following data to Health. 

> Recommended Setting: Toggle ON "All Requested Data Below"

RukusImPulse requires this setting so that we can read your heart rate, and preferred zones alongside the Health app. 

Allow Bluetooth Access: "RukusImPulse" would like to use Bluetooth.

> Recommended Setting: OK

RukusImPulse requires this setting so that we can securely broadcast your heart rate up to the RukusStats. 

I've downloaded the app, next steps?

Reach out to a member of our Guest Service team, in order to process your lifetime activation. They'll be able to process the activation and mirror your device to your profile. 

iOS Requirements

Rukus ImPulse requires iOS 13 (released 09/2019) or later.

Where can I find my Device ID?

After launching the app and selecting your ride type, you will be passed to the live Heart rate screen. Just below the pulsing (R) is a small section that says DeviceID, please share this unique identity with the Guest Service team. 

How do I start my ride?

First step, make sure you are inside the CycleArena. You may not be able to connect to the CycleArena within the lobby.

After you have launched the app, select your class type, and ensure your heart rate is visible, simply tap on Start Ride. You'll see a brief count down, after that you're riding! 

How do I pause, or end my ride?

If you are viewing the live workout screen (time, active calories, total calories, and BPM), simply swipe right to perform the action. 

Does a Rukus Cycling Studios ride count towards my Apple Health activities?

Yes! During your ride, we are capturing your heart rate, and sharing it with your Apple Health app. Close those rings! 

Heart Rate is not displaying on TV or in your after ride summary.

If you've purchased the activation, and still do not see yourself on the leaderboard or heart rate-based stats in your after-ride summary.

Ensure that Bluetooth is enabled for the RukusImPulse app. To confirm, simply navigate: 

iOS Settings // Privacy // Bluetooth // RukusImPulse should be toggled ON. 

If you are seeing the heart rate data in your ride summary, ensure your profile is toggled to Show on TV via the Guest Service team.

How quickly is my heart rate shared with the RukusStats platform?

On average, we are reading your heart rate 15 times a minute or every 4 seconds. Yeah, we're impressed too. 😉

RukusImPulse is not displaying my heart rate.

Ensure that your Apple Watch band is safely and tightly secure on your wrist. If your band is too loose, the sensors and infrared led can not read your pulse. 

My rides are not being stored in the Apple Health app.

If your rides are not being stored or shared with your Apple Health app, let's ensure Rukus ImPulse can properly share that data. 

iOS Settings // Privacy // Health // Rukus ImPulse // all settings should be toggled to the ON position. 

If issues still persist, try deleting the RukusImPulse Watch app and re-installing it. See Apple's article below for app deletion.

Can I use the Rukus ImPulse app in Prime or Surge rides?

Yes! In addition to ImPulse classes, the app can be used inside Prime or Surge rides. At this time we do not display heart rate in Prime or Surge rides, however, your metrics are still gathered and delivered in your after-class summary. 

Do I need to purchase an activation at every studio I visit?

No. Your lifetime activation is purchased once, your activation key is visible to all studios. Your privacy is top-of-mind, we do not pair your device to other studios. As such, the visiting studio will need to validate your purchase and pair your device. If the studio can not locate your key, simply share the activation email or text message. 

Downloaded the app, activated your watch and not working?

Did you just download the app, activate your watch, and the app is not working? Issues such as broadcasting your heart rate, heart rate, or timer getting stuck?
